Welsh Language distribution

The Welsh Dimension

Treffos is in the heartland of Wales in terms of the Welsh language. There are about 4 million people in Wales and approximately 20% speak Welsh.

Treffos has not opted for a bilingual curriculum, but it does support an appreciation of the Welsh culture. In fact, most of the staff in the nursery and about 35% in the school speak Welsh and up to the age of about six pupils will be spoken to in the language of their preference.

Pupils from the age of 7 may also opt to join an early morning Welsh Club which runs for four half hour sessions each week as a number of our year 6 leavers will transfer to the local state schools and possibly opt for the bilingual stream.
