What are we aiming to achieve:

In order for the young child to grow into a well balanced young learner the child needs a good home and a good school. There has to be a dynamic partnership between the home and the school. So our first aim is to develop a partnership with parents which enables information to flow freely between the home and the school.

We want our pupils by the time they reach Y6 to achieve higher than national targets in English and mathematics.

We want them to build their self esteem and confidence by setting them tasks that provide the right amount of challenge.

We want them to develop their potential in the creative arts: painting singing drama dance.

We want them to enjoy physical activities and sports.

We want them to recognise that they can make a difference to the lives of others and a growing recognition that they have a responsibility for their own learning and that success lies in their own hands.

Partnership with Parents

At Treffos there is no school gate, no lip service to the views of parents; parents are the child’s first educators, parents have a wealth of expertise, skills and good will which we as educators would be foolish to ignore. Our aim is to run a school where parents feel welcomed and comfortable, a school which responds promptly to their concerns and seeks to forge a really effective partnership with parents. Treffos pupils, without doubt, get much more out of their time at Treffos because of the good will and support of parents. How do we build an effective relationship with parents? Primarily by keeping parents well informed, by responding to their concerns quickly, and in many other practical ways - for example:

  • open access to classrooms and teachers in the morning when you drop pupils off;
  • meeting Mrs. Humphreys for an informal word at the start of the day;
  • curriculum meetings for parents to find out what is planned for the term ahead;
  • workshops on: 'Help your child to read' and 'How we teach philosophy';
  • "look at your children’s books" mornings;
  • appointment based Parents Evenings;
  • suggestion boxes – tell us how we might improve things;
  • clear complaints procedure - tell us when you have a serious concern;
  • surveys of parent opinion so we know your views;
  • parents have an open invitation to join classes on field trips, theatre visits, school camp and sailing club etc., and
  • through an active parent teachers association which helps the school and pupils with all their fundraising activities for good causes.
