Treffos is in the centre of a woodland setting. It is a great place for children. They are surrounded by the natural world which is uplifting and a source of fascination. On a journey down the school drive they may see rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels, mole hills, a rookery, lambs in the adjacent fields and a great variety of song birds plus several school dogs.

In January the children will see banks of snowdrops; in February, crocuses; in March, a thousand daffodils and in June, the wood full of bluebells. In Spring, pupils plant their own seeds and grow lettuce, carrots, onions, giant marrows and cultivate a herb border. They will see and hear the rooks build and repair their nests. On sunny days they will eat their lunch on the lawns and see the garden coming into blossom. Treffos, in short, provides a rare rural idyll for children.
